Has anyone had problems with Daimler Chrysler not honoring a warranty?? Because you used an employee discount?Q) I bought a 100,000 Mile warranty for my jeep liberty. My engine is blown and heavily sludged up. I have all my maintenance and oil receipts, infact Daimler service center was the last to do an oil change and had no report of sludge. This was a month before it was blown. Daimler refuses to honor my waranty and fix my engine. When I contacted my lawyer, I was told when I used an employee discount I agreed in fine print that I would never take Daimler to court, therefore voiding my waranty. Has anyone had this problem??
A) That ploy has been used in California, and the way around it is to go either to your state's Attorney General and file a complaint, or if your state has a watch-dog agency that over-sees the automotive industry, file a complaint with them. It then becomes a state regulatory issue and YOU don't have to take them to Court.
The state does it.
In California, the Bureau of Automotive Repair is the regulatory agency responsible for policing the auto industry. Each auto repair facility is required to have a license issued by BAR as well as business licenses etc.
If BAR revokes the license, there is NO auto work done until it is resolved. It doesn't matter how many employees, or how long they have been in business etc.
Look to find that agency in your state or county or city or (?) - - - -i am looking for a company called "wire electronic" in Daimler Strasse. Do you know its web site?Q) i am responsible to control a machine but thismachine uses a very old, historical "speed controller device", produced by "Wire Electronics Company" in Daimler Straße. I need to contact to them to get the connection schematics of the device.....
A) google itdaimler sold chrysler??Q) how is it gonna affect the future chrysler products, particularly the 300? will they still have mercedes parts and engineering on their products?
I mean sure its supposed to be an all american brand, but noone can deny the fact that the newfound quality comes from the mercedes technology it used.
For those who misunderstood, I'm not talking about build quality, both cars (chrysler and benz) are crappy in this area. No, I'm talking about handling and ride quality, something I havent seen in any chrysler product (except maybe viper)
Benz parts maybe expensive, but to some its worth it.
A) most likely they will continue to carry parts for a specified number of years but after that u will have to go to a regular parts store but foreign car parts store is an better choice for good partsWhat do you think of Daimler/Chrysler as a company, and does it have a future in the United States?Q) It appears since Diamler/Benz bought Chrysler Corp. the German owners have chosen to do away with the UAW represented labor traditionally used by the big three automakers, and outsouced as much of the old Chrysler as possible. There have been no new hires of UAW employees since the buyout, and nothing but a seeming destruction of the former American auto company. Any comments would be appreciated.
A) I work at the Jeep Wrangler assembly plant in Toledo,Oh. where we run a supplier parts plant. It is not true they have not hired,we have new hires in our plant and this week they have given 800 people interviews for temp. part time work.We are working 6 days a week sometimes 7,10 hour days ,2 shifts so I don't have any complaints. Our plant has always worked overtime,I can't remember when I had a 40 hour check.I don't think Damiler will even sell Chrysler for these reasons;Jeep Wrangler is hot,Toledo built Dodge Nitro is hot,2006 Dodge Ram set sells record,Chrysler van owns almost 50% of van market,Chrysler Financial is making a lot of money and Dodge Challenger.True Chrysler does have to get rid of some of it's SUV 's but they have a lot going for them.Everyone blames the employees,UAW,Toyota and Honda, but it is the unfair value of the yen to the dollar that is pulling the whole nation down, not just auto sector.Every time a car is imported from Japan that company makes $2000-9000.That gives them even more money to put into better and more technolgy.Well enough complaning, yes I feel Chrysler has a great future with the right leadership.Since Daimler ditched Chrysler, what about all the product lines?Q) What makes me wonder is how a lot of the Chrysler 300C and the Crossfire are built and designed from Benz components, the 300C being formed with a lot of E-Class sedan hardware and the Crossfire using many components from the SLK. If the Benz side of things is no more, will Chrysler have to give up on the 300C and the Crossfire? That would suck.
A) Daimler retained a 19.9 percent ownership share in Chrysler in the recent sale. I would venture that an agreement was reached to continue using some Benz engineering until these designs are due to be replaced.Car designs for BMW and Mercedes Benz?Q) I am very good at drawing new designs for BMW and Mercedes Benz cars especially the S-class and the 7-series. I have new designs for the S-class and it could be used by Daimler Benz Group. I need serious answers, how can I draw Daimler Benz Group's attention to my sketches?
A) First thing you have to do is to copyright anything then research whom to send them to. Even if they love your designs they may steal them from you without any compensation so whatever you do do not use their logo's on your designs.Has anyone ever had to use a GAP contract to pay off an auto loan after an accident? How much trouble was it?Q) My car was totaled in a car accident and it looks like my insurace settlement is going to be about $3500 short of paying off my loan. I purchased GAP insurance when I purchased the vehicle but I've never had to deal with something like this before and I wonder if they make you jump through alot of hoops before paying out. Specifically if you had to use a Daimler Chrysler Gap contract.
A) Although, I've never had to use it, I imagine it's fairly easy. There isn't much to debate over as long as the car is totaled. The only problem I could see coming is how long it takes for you to recieve a check.2002 JEEP Liberty Limited 4 Wheel Drive 3.7L Sludge??Q) I have taken my jeep in for my engine making noises and over heating. The spedometer racing, the heater not working, the jeep stahling. Now my engine is blown due to sludge.
I have all my maintenance and oil receipts. In fact a month prior to it being blown, a Daimler service dept changed my oil and did not have sludge reported.I have contacted a lawyer only to find out that I signed an agreement that says i will not take Daimler to court when I used the employee discount.
I was wondering if any other jeeps have sludge problems??
A) the only ones have ever seen have bad sludge problem,,was one that have been run through water or a lot of mud,and even then it didn't harm the engine in it,i own a repair shop,,and this just doesn't sound right to me,,i have customers that have older jeep products, that have a lot of miles on them,..and they don't have a sludge problem with them,,because i do the work,,and id notice it,if they did,you said it was serviced right before this,,if it had sludge in it,the oil would not have come out of it real good it wold have been really thick and dirty,,you didn't post the mileage on it,,so I'm kind of wondering if it is really high mileage on it,,even then it shouldn't have this problem,id talk to an attorney on the matter and see what he says about it,,i have seen one get sludge on it from running the oil too long before changes,,but that's like putting 20 thousand miles on one oil change,,now that will ruin an engine in a hurry, but how many miles could you have put on it,,I'm thinking not that much ,on an oil change,,have another mechanic look at it,,I'm real curious of what the out come is going to be on this,,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.Why own a Mercedes when you can have a Toyota or Lexus?Q) Toyota and Lexus's are just as safe (sometimes even safer, according to NHTSA, than a Mercedes), more fuel efficient when compared to Mercedes engines with the same power, more new and improved technology, better value, and much more reliable. Take a look at these two amazing videos!

Toyota Motor Corporation is becoming the biggest car company in the world and in the U.S. It is making billions while creating new jobs in America and elsewhere through its new plants while the Daimler Chrysler Group and Mercedes is losing billions and closing down its plants, cutting thousands of jobs.
I think Mercedes used to make great cars, but now they are losing their game with twenty year old Lexus. How can Mercedes improve its products so that it is more reliable & competitive, especially when they are charging twice as much as Lexus. Do you think Mercedes diesels have a chance against Toyota/Lexus hybrids?
EVERYONE LOOK AT THE YOU TUBE VIDEOS LINKED ABOVE, IT'S AMAZING!!!
For MINH H's response, actually it is true that many foreign cars are built in the US. I've been to a Mercedes dealer and all the models I've seen(S,E, Cl, C, SL) says that the cars are only ~80% German with the other 20% made elsewhere. Toyota and Lexus has most of their cars from Japan, but the popular ones like Camry are built in the US. Many US cars are built in foreign land with foreign parts, like Escalade and Ford Fusion in Mexico and Chevy Aveo in South Korea.

For New Day...
The J.D. Power ratinga are the only thing that I have heard about Mercedes being good, other than the new GL winning one Motor trend award. Lexus, not even mentioning Toyota, has won best engine awards, world car of the year award, Always rated as reliable in Consumer Reports and Consumer Guide, and many other sources have given praises to Lexus and other Japanese makes, and not Mercedes (Car and Driver, Motor Trend...)
Anyways, the J.D. Power Ratings only go by the car's first 90 days. Of course a car that cost twice as mush as it is worth is going to have good customer service and "satisfaction" on the first 90 days. If you want to see how reliable they rewally are, go look at a Consumer Reports car magazine. They actually test cars and reliability over years instead of J.D.'s 90 days!
Just go look at my previous questions & you'll see.
I think Reeny120 not pretend to know something. First of all, the Lexus ES350 is not a Toyota Camry, it just shares the chasis. The ES has way better materials and lots more tecnology and is a little more quieter. Do you know that the Chrysler 300 and the Mercedes E Class shares the same chasis and parts too. And the Mercedes R Class uses the same frame as the Chrysler Pacifica. Maybe I should just start calling Mercedes cars Chryslers. Even I thnik that would be insulting!
Also, Lexus only exists in America. For example, in Japan, they only have Toyotas. So, in order for the car that we call the Lexus IS 350 in America to be sold in Japan, it is called the Toyota Altezza because Lexus doesn't exist in Japan. You should also know that the Toyotas in Japan are just as good, if not better than the Lexus's we have in America.
People should know there stuff before answering!
Why does everyone think the Lexus ES350 is a Toyota? Have you even been in one and compared it to a Camry. Even I it was a Camry, I'd rather have a Camry because it is safer than the C and E Class (according to the NHTSA, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and costs less than half as much as the E Class. Oh and it's also cleaner than the E Class. You can say that of course the 4 cylinder and hybrid models are cleaner, but even the V6 model with ~270 hp is a Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle! This V6 engine has won best engine awards and the Lexus ES's engine is simular but actually is tuned to have more horspower. For those who think that the ES and Camry are the same, just look at the engine bay and you decide if they look the same!
For gailforce_wind, you have really biased observations. I only see twenty year old Toyotas and old Lexus that still run. I have a friend that recently bought a 1990 Lexus ES250 with 200,000+ miles on it and it still uns perfect! I have heard of 300,000 mile Mercedes, and the key word is "heard." I have actually seen many more twenty year old Toyotas an Lexus than any old Mercedes. I know that Mercedes USED to make old cars, but since the 90's, their reliability ratings sucked. I know many people with S Classes and M Classes that swear to never buy Mercedes again! Consmer Reports rates a brand new 2006 mercedes to hae more problems than a 1998 Lexus LS400, and that's a fact! I hope Mercedes could lean a few things from Lexus. Many people say that Mercedes invented airbags or some other 'innovations," but Lexus and toyota has made far better progress with car tech, yet still retaining their excellent reliability(Consumer Reports).
Did you guys even watch the you tube videos? Top Gear (BBC) bought a 13 year old Toyota diesel truck with 190,000 miles on it and tried to desroy it, but the engine just keeps on running.
They drove it over stairs, crashed it, threw it in the English channel and left it under salt water for five hours, dropped it, dropped a trailer on it, drove it through an "office," used a wrecking ball on it, burned it with fire, and finally demolished a 20 story building with the toyota truck on it. The Toyota not only started afterwards, it's still drivable!

"...Research by Peterson's own firm, AutoPacific, substantiates CR's [Consumer Reports'] findings. Its 2006 Ideal Vehicle Awards show Mercedes not only ranking ninth out of ten among luxury brands but also lower than the top ten mainstream brands like Hyundai and Subaru. The JD Power Initial quality study for 2006 models, which measures defects identified by customers during the first 90 days of ownership, put Mercedes at 25th out of a field of 37 brands. That was well behind leaders like Porsche, Toyota's Lexus, Jaguar, GM's Cadillac and Infiniti, though still two notches ahead of BMW. "

To car_guy and sammymirza,
this is what I was thinking. If you want a car to show off and let people know you have enough money to buy a car and also having enough time and money to deal with all the problems the car is going to give you, yeah, the Mercedes is going to do a better job than Lexus. But if you want a good physical car itself, Lexus is the way to go.
What I am saying is...
(Don't take me seriously on this...) but lets say something like "The Day After Tomorrow" sort of senerio happenned. I am saying I would rather be in a Lexus because the physical car itself is more reliable and can get me further and more miles than the Mercedes. (Remember I am just using this scenario to illusrtate my point, I am not saying this scenario would ever happen) But if you think about it, in that scenario, I would probably go for the Lexus instead of showing off my benz. This shows that even if you are not in the worst case scenario, a Lexus is the better car in its physical aspects.
To: mello
I don't recieve endorsements from Lexus or Toyota. I am just a car enthusiast and when I come upon good cars, I notice them, instead of thinking about which cars would make me look wealthier.
If you really had to ask me, I would hope American car makes would build better cars because (don't bring politics or political correctness into this, but) as an American, I am hoping we all do well. Even though many Americans today are losing their patriotic fervor because of difficult times, I hope Americans, no matter how stubborn we can be, that we can learn from mistakes and start building better cars, even if it means emulating the Japanese in their success in the automotive industry.
It is great that Mercedes is getting better in quality ratings because they are a brand that has the image, but have slacked off & cheaped out on quality for too long(since the 90's). Lexus on the other hand is just twenty years old & has the right stuff & makes extremely well business...(next)

decisions, but lack the brand name. However, they are becoming the biggest automaker in the world and the United States. Profit-wise though, Porsche earns the most (eh-ehm...because of their extremely overpriced cars). I think almost all brands have their pros and cons (well, I can only think of cons when it comes to recent American cars, especially from GM), but Lexus has far more pros than cons. The only cons for Lexus and Toyota are their performance and, yeah they could be light on their feet and too quiet, but those are things that we can live with. Mercedes on the other hand, you get good performance, but have quality and reliability problems, the things that are going to drive you crazy and I certainely can't live with that. Mercedes' materials are getting really cheap too. Other than the more expensive S, SL, & CL class, other cars have fake leather & plastic panels & materials. Have you been in a $60,000 SLK, it's all plastic! You certainely get more in a Lexus.

I have to admit, before DaimlerChrysler took over MB, it was a good company, now their quality has sunk so low.
Lexus is the only company to receive a 5 rating from J.D. Power and Associates. It's what the people have to say, not the company. What Can't We Advocate Market Competition For Fighting Against Global Warming?Q) It is great and rightfully so that we get the governemnt involved but I've noticed something. When Toyota started to build its Prius other car companies followed like Ford with its Escape and Mariner, GM with its Chevy Malibu and Cadillac Escalade, Daimler Chrysler with its Mercedes S-Class and Dodge Durango, and there are countless other companies joining. I think its because customers wanted them to be built and Toyota is approaching #1, or has it? However, I might be wrong. Also, I've noticed that Home Depot is producing double-layered glass for insulation lowering the gas to make profits. I used to think that GREED always destroys the environment but sometimes it can help since a corporation needs PROFITS. Remember, they exist because YOU, the CONSUMER, gave them money to buy their products. Realize that you are POWERFUL and corporations are POWERLESS. Anyway, what do you think? I want some great thought on this. Thank you.
A) You're on the right track--but there's a bit more to it.
Don't underestimate the power of corporations to manipulate the market. The SUV is a classic example. This is essentially an off-road design, not suited to urban travel and expensive to build and operate. Functionally, its not as good in a city as other designs. But through a combination of styling and marketing, the car companies sold millions of them. Despite the fact that by any rational measrure, a minivan or station wagon is a better, afer, and cheaper alternative.
Not to beat up on SUV's--just making the point about marketing effectiveness. But corporations aren't the only ones who can manipulate the market--the government can as well--and with extraordinary effectiveness. One of the most effective--and economically efficient ways--is by setting standards. We see this daily--and often don't realize it. The reason why all computers can link into the internet isn't because they're magic--they all have to use certain standard protocols.
In this case, the government can shape the market by setting standards (for instance, minimum fuel efficiency standards for cars). There are two ways to do this. One is for the government to issue regulations saying everyone has to do things a certain way. This is sometimes effective--but isn't often the best way to solve a problem (such prescriptive standards arethe kind i just gave an example of with computers). The other approach is to set a standard--but without mandating how to achieve the standard. Where global warming and comparable issues are concerned, this is almost always the best approach. The idea is that companies are then free to innovate and find the best--and most cost-effective--ways of meeting the standard.
If you think about it, this can be--and in practice often is--an even better way of acheiving policy goals than relying on market forces alone. And it's proved very effective with many technologies. Much of the innovation involved in radio, television, cars, computers, aircraft, etc. has been a result of intelligent combinations of standards like those cmputer protocols--that insure compatibility--and achievement standards (goals) that set safety or other standards--but leave the market forces free to find the best way to reach the goal.
Our biggest problem at this juncture, however, is that special interests (mainly the oil companies) are deliberately trying to derailefforts to set policies like the above. The reason is simple: they are scared. It doesn't matter what standards, market forces, etc end up coming up with as solutions--demand for oil is going to begin a long term decline in the near future--and they are the big losers. The good news is that evryone else is a potential winner. But in a (so far deplorably successful) effort to delay change, they are blocking needed policy research, debate, and implementation.
